Research and Development Engineers and Scientists within Stryker’s Medical Device division require a customized, universal test system in order to automate both functional and systems integration testing of physical human-machine interfaces (HMI) for medical devices currently in development. The test system will support pre-commerce design development and black-box level integration and functional verification testing of product design.
Students will design an electro-mechanical test platform used to evaluate a vertically mounted touch-screen HMI (Human-Machine Interface), allowing for a full range of verification tests (OCR, Touch Actuation and System Integration). The system will run test scripts and record responses, automating the evaluation of both the physical interface functions and the interface/computer instructions. At a minimum, the result must be faster and more accurate than the status quo methodology.
