Joy Adams is the Program Manager for Partner Sponsored projects within the Multidisciplinary Design Program. Each year Joy manages the partnership with corporations and non-profit organizations, recruits organizations, manages contracting, develops student projects, recruits students, and supports student development throughout projects. This results in the creation of over 300 experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and Masters students each year. After spending nearly a decade working in various professional Human Resources functions, including University Relations, Training & Development, and Talent Strategy for Fortune 500 organizations, Joy knows how to bridge the gap from the dorm room to the board room. In addition to her extensive HR and recruitment experience, Joy is a certified Professional of Human Resources (PHR). Joy holds a BA in Communications from Valparaiso University.
When she’s not engaged with companies and students, Joy enjoys presenting campus recruitment tips and tricks and professional development topics to SWE, TBP, PTS, HKN, and other student organizations on campus, reviewing student resumes, providing interview coaching, and helping students navigate sticky recruitment situations.
In her downtime, she loves being at home with her husband (UM Mechanical Engineer ’05), daughter (UM Class of 2037) and twin boys (UM Class of 2039).
Office: GFL 205. Though you’ll often find her in Mujo’s, Fireside Cafe, Chrysler 117, Michigan League, or wherever there is a comfy chair and Wifi. To meet with Joy, please email her to request an appointment: firstname.lastname@example.org
