When he returned to college to facilitate a career change after gaining professional experience as a graphic designer and artist, Geoffrey discovered the Multidisciplinary Design Program while looking for hands-on design and research projects. He joined the MiTEE cube satellite team, which offered highly relevant experience in his major, as well as the opportunity to develop interpersonal and leadership skills. After one term on the project, he became a sub-team leader, taking on the responsibility of organizing other students in addition to working on the satellite design.
“Participation and teamwork is really important,” Geoffrey says. “Everyone is learning as they go, learning different programming languages and new hardware, so collaborating and helping each other out is essential to make sure everyone is on the same page and we can move forward as a team.” Recently, Geoffrey took over as the MiTEE team leader and plans to pursue his doctorate degree from the University of Michigan.
