MSC Actran Workshop
Wednesday, February 15, 2017
Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Location: Duderstadt Rm #1180
Noise reduction is an important aspect of modern equipment design driven either due to a need to comply with regulations or as a product differentiator. Numerical simulations can help in reducing the cost and time of product development if used early in the design phase. Actran software developed by Free Field Technologies currently operating as a fully owned business unit of MSC software is used by over 300 customers world-wide in designing low noise products across industries. In the proposed workshop, we will offer you an opportunity to learn and perform acoustic simulations. The workshop is tailored for students from several engineering branches (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical) as well as Physics. We will also present several examples from various industries highlighting the use of acoustic simulations. All students attending the workshop will receive a personal copy of the Actran student edition software (Windows Installer) and tutorials.
*Please note that this is a Windows based software. Participants have to bring their own laptop and charger to the workshop. They will be sent instructions to install the software on their laptops closer to the date.
If you do not have a Windows OS and would still like to attend this workshop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and a laptop might be provided for you to use during the workshop. These loaner laptops are limited and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. You will be informed closer to the date if a loaner laptop has been assigned to you.
*Food will be provided.
