Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are systems developed to automate, adapt and enhance vehicle systems for safety and better driving. Honda Sensing® ADAS includes collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. These systems use cameras and sensors to assess the road and surroundings around the car and make decisions about when and how to assist the driver. Honda would like to explore utilizing current weather data to assist in these decisions. Students on this team will develop algorithms to gather and interpret weather data, communicate to the ADAS, and drive decisions about how individual systems will be utilized.
